Marc Laine has been appointed Island Manager for C5 Alliance in Guernsey. The role is central to the company’s longer-term strategy and commitment to growing its business in the Island.
Mr Laine has been acting as a consultant to C5 Alliance, using his considerable expertise and experience in the local technology market to help develop new business. His appointment by the Board will strengthen the local management team of the company.
Mr Laine, who was born and educated in the Island, has built a significant reputation in Guernsey in the IT sector. He began his career as Technical Manager for the former Filleuls Group in the Channel Islands, before forming Atlas Telecom in 1994. He built the company up to become the largest private supplier of telephone equipment to the public and corporate sectors in the Island. The Confederation of Guernsey Businesses named Mr Laine Entrepreneur of the Year in 2002 and a year later he sold Atlas Telecommunications to the Jersey Telecom Group, which renamed the company Wave Telecom.
Mr Laine said: “I believe I have the necessary commercial acumen and knowledge of the Guernsey market to help deliver the growth C5 Alliance is looking for. I have been really impressed with the level of expertise of the people I work with. We provide bespoke IT solutions for Guernsey’s top companies and I am looking forward to leading the excellent local team and building on the success of the company over the last ten years.”
C5 Alliance Director Rob Leader said: “We are obviously delighted that Marc has accepted the offer to join the management team on a more permanent basis. The work he has done for us since he became involved as a consultant has been invaluable to our commercial plans in Guernsey and we have no doubt that with his leadership we will continue to perform strongly.”
