C5 Champions STEM Racing in Jersey

At C5 Alliance, we’re proud to be the headline sponsor of Digital Jersey’s STEM Racing initiative for 2025 – 2026. STEM Racing is a dynamic programme that’s ignites creativity, teamwork and technical skills among secondary school students across Jersey.
Driving Innovation and Opportunity
STEM Racing, formerly known as ‘F1 in Schools’, offers a hands-on educational experience that brings together technology, design and collaboration.
Supported by Formula 1, the competition challenges students to design, manufacture and race miniature F1 cars, launching them down a 20-metre track using compressed air.
The process mirrors real FIA scrutineering, with the teams optimising aerodynamic performance and adhering to detailed technical regulations.
But STEM Racing is more than just engineering. Students present enterprise portfolios, develop brand identities, manage projects and build custom pit display stands - gaining real-world skills that extend far beyond the racetrack.
Celebrating Jersey’s Talent
The Reginal Finals for this year’s competition was held at Jersey College for Girls and saw students from secondary schools across Jersey shine, with teams from Victoria College, Beaulieu Convent School and JCG securing top positions and earning their place at the STEM Racing UK National Finals in March 2026.
The event featured two classes - Professional and Development - each designed to build foundational skills before they advance to more complex challenges. This structure enables students to progress at their own pace, developing both their technical and project management expertise.

Matt Tabb, Chief Marketing Officer for C5 Alliance summed up the spirit of the event: “It was a genuinely inspirational day - all the teams did brilliant jobs of designing, producing, marketing and then racing their cars.
A quite humbling experience when you see the great things that our young people are capable of - which just underpins why we got involved as the sponsor. We look forward to seeing how all the winning teams perform at the National Finals next year.”
