What our Microsoft Accreditations really mean for your business

Why Microsoft Solutions Partner accreditations matter.

C5-Microsoft-Accreditations

Microsoft’s Solutions Partner designations are among the hardest credentials to earn in the technology industry - and C5 Alliance holds five out of six. Here’s why that matters when you choose a technology partner.

When you are deciding who to trust with your technology, the badges on a supplier’s website can start to blur into one another. But not all accreditations are created equal and Microsoft’s Solutions Partner designations sit in a category of their own.

“Microsoft have ‘Solutions Partners’ - there are six available accreditations in different key areas. They have tightened up the requirements to achieve these. We hold five currently of the six, and we’re pushing towards the sixth.” — Mark Mclachlan, IT Services practice lead

Six designations, five already earned

The five designations C5 holds span the pillars that matter most to a modern organisation: Modern Work, Infrastructure (Azure), Security, Digital & App Innovation and Data & AI. The sixth - Business Applications - is in progress.

As Mark puts it: “These are the key pillars that we work on. The final one is Business Systems, which is one that we’re working through at the moment.”

They are hard to earn - and that is precisely the point

A designation is not a certificate you can simply buy. Microsoft evaluates partners across three demanding areas: performance, skilling and customer success. Crucially, the bar is set for the whole team, not a single standout individual.

“What that demonstrates is you have to have a minimum amount of people skilled in those areas. And it’s not just having one person having all the qualifications - it’s got to be spread.”  - Mark Mclachlan

C5 is also a direct Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) - a licensed Microsoft provider. That brings a further test: “you have to be able to evidence that you’re supplying clients those licences and having a good balance of client satisfaction.” In other words, the designation is earned by a team, proven by real client outcomes and re-tested every time Microsoft raises the bar.

A local team, held to a global standard

Behind the accreditations are people. Around 150 colleagues across C5 have completed these qualifications in Jersey and in Guernsey and now the Isle of Man.

That combination - a genuinely local team meeting a global benchmark - is part of what makes C5 Alliance the only accredited Microsoft Consulting Services partner across the Crown Dependencies.

What it means for your business

For clients, the designations translate into practical, everyday value:

  • Quality assurance- Microsoft rigorously evaluates partners before awarding a designation, so the standard is independently verified.
  • Depth, not a single point of failure- skills are spread across a qualified team rather than resting on one individual.
  • Early access to Microsoft- designated partners tap into exclusive resources, training and product roadmaps and pass those advantages on.
  • Solutions tailored to you- whether the need is Microsoft 365, Azure, security or data and AI, the right expertise is already in place.

Accreditations are not the destination - they are the proof of the journey.

Work with C5 and you are working with a team that Microsoft itself has validated, five times over, with the sixth on the way.
