C5 Alliance celebrates International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day falls on 8th March 2020 and to mark the occasion, Marie Floury, our Application Support Analyst, discusses the importance of women in tech and how she hopes to inspire more women to consider a career in the industry.
What attracted you to the tech industry?
From a young age I always wanted to understand how things worked, so it seemed like a good fit for me. I think there is an esoteric quality about technology, it’s futuristic, it’s pushing the frontiers and I really wanted to be a part of shaping that future.
What does it take to succeed in the tech industry?
The IT industry is so varied that there really is a place for everyone with different skill sets and personalities. But at the core of it all, it’s a fast-moving industry, so people who thrive on change, and can keep up with that fast pace of change, succeed.
On International Women’s Day, how can we encourage more women to pursue a career in technology?
We need to inspire our children. There is a teacher in Australia who is teaching atomic theory to primary school children. I have two daughters and they love these videos. If we can spark a passion for technology at a young age, then we won’t need to do anything more, because our children will have their own drive to pursue a career in tech.
