C5 Alliance Consultant youngest Islander to earn esteemed International Diploma in Business Analysis

March 20, 2017
Matt Parker who achieved Business Analysis qualification

Business Analyst at C5 Alliance, Matt Parker, has earned his BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis, making him one of the youngest people in the Channel Islands to earn the Business Analysis qualification, at just 22 years old.

The course provided Matt with the formal knowledge needed to effectively analyse client systems and processes to create plans for improvement. This included learning skills and techniques in understanding client requirements, logical thinking, project management and approach, and dealing with a variety of real-life scenarios. To achieve the qualification, Matt successfully completed four written exams and an intensive hour-long oral exam with industry experts in Business Analysis.

Matt also holds a degree in IT from the University of Plymouth, which he attained at Highlands College in 2014, gaining industry experience at a finance firm as part of his course. He joined C5 Alliance in 2015 as an intern and developed skills in several areas across the business, before being offered a full-time role as part of the Project Management team. As a Business Analyst, Matt has a niche area of expertise, as one of just seven trained Business Analysts operating across the C5 Alliance Group.

Matt aims to continue to expand his knowledge by undertaking a further qualification, this time in Project Management.

Matt, commented:

Working for C5 has allowed me to get a taste for a wide-range of IT areas and provided me with the opportunity to expand my tech expertise. As a Business Analyst, I’m fortunate to bridge the gap between the business and technical side of the organisation, which means my day can be very varied. It’s fulfilling to be able to help local businesses get to grips with new and innovative technology, and the knowledge gained from my diploma will allow me to do this much more effectively. Being one of very few Business Analysts working for C5, I’m proud to be able to fill what was a bit of a ‘gap in the market’, and I’d like to personally thank C5 Consultant, David Toney for his insight and guidance throughout the process. I encourage those interested in a career in technology to get in touch with C5 to see how we can help you to realise your business analysis ambitions.

Ceri Riddett, Director of HR at C5 Alliance, commented:

Matt has shown great enthusiasm and commitment in achieving this qualification, which is a well-deserved result and garners huge congratulations from all of us at C5. Matt’s progression is a great example of C5’s passion to nurture the new generation of IT experts across the Channel Islands through professional qualifications, knowledge sharing and the development of expertise. Encouraging a culture of mentorship between our more experienced IT experts and younger team members also provides a rewarding experience to everyone involved.
